Role title
Sustainability Manager
Your role
Reporting to the Head of Sustainability this role will primarily manage environmental reporting to stakeholders and support the Head of Sustainability to oversee all environmental sustainability related matters within the business that support our decarbonisation efforts. The role will provide insights and analysis on a range of issues including carbon emissions, fuel efficiency, operational processes, inflight, ground and product related sustainability initiatives that will inform and shape the sustainability strategy, track performance and ensure compliance with environmental reporting obligations.
- Monitor and report performance against Aer Lingus and IAG key performance indicators in the areas carbon, including the carbon fuel efficiency metric (gCO2/pkm), noise, waste, energy and water and other sustainability metrics as needed.
- On-going review of policy developments within Sustainability and understanding of associated impacts, such as ReFuelEU.
- Leading the implementation and on-going compliance of Non-CO2 emissions monitoring, reporting, verification and assisting the relevant operational teams with implementation of Re-FuelEU.
- Ensure compliance of Emissions Trading Schemes and CORSIA annual process, complying with environmental legislation at corporate level in conjunction with flight operations and finance.
- Develop effective data insights to support the Sustainability Team in engaging with and communicating Aer Lingus Sustainability Strategy to the business, working groups, colleagues, senior management and experts.
- Develop and coordinate waste reduction and recycling strategy and co-ordinate the airline’s inputs to and participation in IAG’s sustainability agenda.
- Act as Industry representation on behalf of Aer Lingus - sitting on forums such as A4E, IATA and IAG working groups.
- Compiles and develops the Aer Lingus carbon footprint to meet Aer Lingus and IAG requirements for Group reporting in respect of the Carbon Disclosure Project.
- Support the Environmental compliance framework across Aer Lingus.
- Responsible for end-to end project management, identification, implementation and delivery of key sustainability initiatives.
- Engage with external auditors and consultants where necessary as part of compliance obligations.
- Promoting and managing good relationships with key business areas, suppliers and Group companies.
- Support Communications team to drive sustainability awareness across the organisation on all sustainability activity and initiatives within the airline.
- Manage the annual publication process of a Sustainability Annual Report for the airline.
- Provide practical day-to-day support to the sustainability and corporate affairs team in response to changing priorities and initiatives.
Your qualifications and key criteria
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the field of Sustainability/ESG.
- Experience in project management.
- Third-level degree is essential in sustainability or relevant field.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Eligible to live and work in the EU.
- Current unrestricted worldwide passport.
- Provide 3 verifiable references.
- Able to pass a 5-year enhanced security background check.
