Materials AOG Desk Manager
Your role
As a Materials AOG Desk Manager in the Maintenance and Engineering department, you are responsible for managing Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations by rapidly sourcing and delivering critical aircraft parts to minimize operational disruption. The Maintenance & Engineering Department plays a key role in delivering Aer Lingus’ ambition by ensuring the continued airworthiness of the fleet, maintaining the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance, and enabling efficient, data-driven maintenance operations.
Your responsibilities as a Materials AOG Desk Manager will include:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 8 AOG coordinators and specialists working in three shifts.
- Set clear performance goals, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide continuous feedback and professional development opportunities.
- Coordinate and manage the procurement and logistics of parts and materials for aircraft in AOG situations.
- Ensure the timely and efficient sourcing, purchasing, and delivery of materials required for heavy maintenance checks.
- Work closely with the maintenance and engineering teams to understand material needs and priorities.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors and other airlines where Aer Lingus have routes.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to ensure cost-effective and timely procurement.
- Monitor supplier performance and address any issues related to quality, delivery, or service.
• Oversee the logistics and transportation of materials, ensuring timely delivery to the required location. - Manage and track shipments, handling any customs or regulatory requirements as needed.
- Coordinate with Inventory Supplier Management department to monitor inventory levels and ensure sufficient stock of critical parts and materials. Support other Supply Chain departments to implement procedures to maintain inventory control systems and optimize stock levels minimizing shortages.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the AOG and Heavy Maintenance support operations.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in aircraft maintenance and supply chain management.
Your qualifications and key criteria
We are looking for an individual with experience / qualifications in the following areas:
- Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in aircraft maintenance, supply chain management, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of aircraft parts, maintenance procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle urgent, time-sensitive situations effectively.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel as needed to meet with suppliers and support AOG situations.
- Experience working in an airline or MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) environment.
- Certification in supply chain management or logistics.
- Familiarity with ERP systems used in aviation maintenance (e.g., AMOS, RAMCO).
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Eligible to live and work in the EU.
- Holder of a current unrestricted worldwide passport.
- Able to pass a strict airport security vetting procedure which includes a 5-year background check* or be in possession of a current airside pass for the airport this position is based in Dublin.
