Role title

Internal Communications Business Partner

Your role

The successful candidate is someone who is passionate about communication, writing, storytelling, and delivering the Aer Lingus business strategy story to colleagues through innovative writing and content creation.


The role will act as a trusted adviser and business partner to key departments, stakeholders, and our senior leaders, informing and inspiring colleagues to increase engagement and sense of belonging within Aer Lingus. 
The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic communications team with a focus on internal communications and our internal communications channel.

In this role, you will lead the development and delivery of strategic communications, campaigns, and engagement initiatives that bring our company’s strategy, departmental updates, and people stories to life. Leveraging our multi-channel internal communications platform, you will craft impactful messages and content that connect with employees and foster a deeper understanding of our shared goals.

 



Principle Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Internal Communications Manager & Internal Communications team & various department stakeholders to drive the internal communications content strategy.
  • Develop internal storytelling on our business strategy, making sense of detailed and sometimes technical information, transforming it into engaging material for employees.
  • Communicate and tell stories like a journalist, taking a multi-media approach to communications, judging the appropriateness of different styles of communication, from use of video to well written short snappy posts, in-the-moment content, video capture by mobile phone, use of imagery, and longer form content such as articles, which help to impart internal news quickly and efficiently.  
  • Develop news stories that reflect the breadth of activity and progress in the business areas (including transformation initiatives, achievements, accomplishments with facts and data, innovation, new appointments, employees’ initiatives, business priorities, teamwork with other areas).
  • Be responsible for writing engaging content and the delivery of stories which will involve execution from start to finish
  •  Be an expert in your business area, and assist in the preparation of research material, briefing notes, video scripts and strategic messaging. 
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships  including Executive members, providing strategic counsel and advice on how to best engage with colleagues, coaching and advising on the appropriate communication on the appropriate internal communications approach, channels and content.
  • Drive improvements based on internal communications trends and best practice, continuing to bring the outside in, and encourage new and innovative thinking, such as the use of ai, across the function. 

Your qualifications and key criteria

  • Experienced communicator with at least 4 years’ communications experience in either an internal communications, PR or corporate communications role.
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills
  • Strong team player and collaborator
  • Multi-media experience
  • Someone who is passionate about colleague engagement and why it matters
  • A self-starter with proven interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive professional relationships
  • Good analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present complex information in simplified terms
  • Proven ability to multitask, prioritise and manage a busy and varied workload
  • Results driven and proven ability to work on own initiative and as a member of a team
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Strong skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook), Canva and AI tools a plus
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • Eligible to live and work in the EU
  • Current unrestricted worldwide passport
  • Provide 2 verifiable references
  • Able to pass a 5-year security background check*

 

Desirable Criteria:

  • A bachelor’s degree in communications or similar discipline
  • Experience developing impactful communications campaigns and engagement strategies
  • Aviation experience, good knowledge of Aer Lingus and our strategy a plus.
