Role title
Airframe Engineering Manager
Your role
This role will have direct responsibility for the Technical Services teams of Avionics, Cabin, Systems and Structures. This role will provide Engineering support to the A320 Family and A330 Fleets in UK and Ireland.
- Manage and develop the performance and competency of the Systems, Cabin, Avionics and Structures Teams by conducting performance reviews.
- Ensure Engineering changes are appropriately risk assessed & mitigated.
- Rigorously implement the Airworthiness Directive process.
- Ensure OEM data (Airbus SB, ISI etc.) is continuously reviewed by Technical Services and that risk-based decision making is in place, including cost of prevention vs cost of failure analysis, for any non-mandatory aircraft modifications.
- Provision of latest maintenance data, including all ICAs relevant to the Aer Lingus fleet from point of delivery & as modified, repaired, & inspected thereafter.
- Ensure the output from Technical Services (such as Engineering Orders, Technical Notices) is written to the highest possible standards & in a format appropriate for use by Maintenance (Production Planning & Line/Base Maintenance), Planning & Materials, in accordance with regulatory requirements & embracing use of technology & digitised processes where possible.
- Ensure aircraft damage charts & repair files are updated in a timely manner for aircraft structures (including nacelle structure) for A320 Family & A330 fleets.
- Ensure support is provided to Line Maintenance, MCC and Technical Support teams for the resolution of complex damage assessments & repairs.
- Maintain oversight of subcontracted organisations.
- Ensure Aer Lingus fleet remains in compliance with all relevant airworthiness & operational mandates from EASA/FAA or other regulatory bodies.
- Ensuring all related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs) are in place & regularly monitored, & corrective interventions made when required.
- Propose, develop, & lead initiatives within the Engineering Transformation & digitisation agenda.
- Challenge existing processes, propose & continuously update procedures, to reflect good practise, IOSA recommendations, & regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with IAG OpCos to identify, share, & implement learning opportunities.
- Promote actions to increase the level of adoption of AMOS in collaboration with the Technical Systems team, to maximise the use of AMOS where possible.
- Provide necessary support to the Fleet Technical Asset Management team during aircraft transitions.
- Effectively plan manpower requirements to ensure resources and workload is balanced within each team.
- Promoting safety culture; hazard reporting, including self-reporting.
- Timely closure of all related findings issued by the Compliance system.
- Reporting all significant issues to Head of Technical Services.
- Preparation of Business Cases for all related projects and modification programme expenditure.
- Manage interface between Engineering and Flight Operations.
Your qualifications and key criteria
We are looking for an individual with experience / qualifications in the following areas:
- A 3rd Level Engineering Degree with 10 years of relevant experience or an EASA Part 66 licensed with 20 years of relevant experience.
- Excellent understanding of aviation regulatory requirements.
- Project Management experience.
- Change/ Project Management Skills.
- Analytical and Data literacy skills.
- Strong working knowledge Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams etc).
- People Management experience.
- Strong leadership and communication capabilities.
- Proven decision-making skills.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Eligible to live and work in the EU.
- Current unrestricted worldwide passport.
- Able to pass a 5-year security background check*(or be in possession of a current airside pass for the airport this position is based in Dublin).

Working knowledge of AMOS.
