Role title

Strategy Analyst

Your role

Reporting into the Director of Strategy, you will play a critical part in developing Aer Lingus’s long-term strategy, addressing key business challenges, and evaluating potential opportunities for future growth across the whole company.

Working with a wide variety of stakeholders across the business including our network, revenue management, fleet, customer, and operations teams, you will provide analytical insight regarding internal and external factors and help to prepare Aer Lingus’ annual business plan for senior management review.

This position affords great visibility across the organisation with frequent interaction with and presentations to the airline’s top executives, including the CEO. This successful candidate will have the chance to own critical projects and help chart Aer Lingus’ future.

In addition, our Strategy & Planning Department helps us to push forward Aer Lingus’ ambition by driving sustainability programs and ensuring that strategic planning supports environmentally responsible practices, aligning with the airline’s long-term sustainability goals.

The role provides a great opportunity to learn about the airline industry, think through intellectually challenging business issues, and develop your skills in a close-knit and welcoming environment.

Your responsibilities as a Strategy Analyst will include:

  • Evaluating Aer Lingus business performance (e.g., route profitability, costs, forward bookings)
  • Identifying “white spaces” for growth and developing comprehensive business cases to support growth initiatives
  • Monitoring & Researching competitor strategies to uncover market opportunities and threats
  • Building financial models to assess trade-offs and impacts of decision.
  • Preparing presentations and business reports for C- Suite based on analysis completed including IAG Board, CEO, and CFO.
  • Responding to ad-hoc projects from senior leaders
  • Articulating Aer Lingus strategic vision throughout the organisation

Your qualifications and key criteria

We are looking for an individual with experience / qualifications in the following areas:

  • Undergraduate degree qualification
  • 1+ years professional experience
  • Ideally, currently in a post-university role in consulting or banking 
  • Strong analytical, quantitative and research skills (e.g., excel, tableau, fluency with data)
  • Strong ability to tell a story in a concise and compelling manner
  • Familiarity with basic financial concepts (e.g., components of a profit & loss statement)
  • Ability to draw insights from disparate data and create a narrative for senior leaders
  • Presentation skill set (e.g., powerpoint)
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Intellectually curious
  • Natural problem solver
  • Proven capability to work effectively under pressure and commitment to producing high quality output to tight deadlines
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • Eligible to live and work in the EU
  • Current unrestricted worldwide passport
  • Provide three verifiable references
    Able to pass a five-year security background check as this role is based in Dublin Airport
