Role title

Head of Performance Marketing

Your role

The Head of Performance Marketing provides strategic leadership in performance marketing, developing and implementing strategies to maximise online sales and customer acquisition.
This role requires the expertise of a commercially driven, consumer-focused marketing professional with a strong analytical mindset.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of end-to-end consumer channels, buying behaviours, and significant experience in fast-paced, growth-oriented trading environments.

Collaborating closely with the wider Marketing team, Consumer Insights, Digital, and Customer Lifecycle Communications teams, this leader will focus on increasing customer lifetime value (LTV) by enhancing customer engagement. They will also ensure all paid media channels—including search, display, video, social media, affiliates, and meta partners — are optimised across the sales funnel.

A key aspect of this position is managing the paid media agency, ensuring effective execution,
optimisation, and performance across all paid media channels. The role also requires close collaboration across marketing, digital, and customer-focused teams to align efforts with the airline's broader objectives of revenue growth, customer engagement, and long-term loyalty.


Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities

Strategy Development and Execution
Responsible for leading the development & execution of performance-driven marketing strategies aimed at maximising customer acquisition and sustainable business growth. 

Brand Safety & Compliance
Safeguard Aer Lingus’ brand integrity by implementing stringent brand safety measures across all digital and paid media channels. 

Performance Measurement and Data-Driven Decisions Leverage data and analytics to track and measure the success of marketing campaigns

Paid Media Optimisation
Optimising the airline’s paid media channels—including search, display, video, social media, affiliates, and metas—ensuring they are effectively managed across the entire sales funnel.

Agency Management
Managing the paid media agency is a critical aspect of the role, ensuring that campaigns are executed to the highest standard. The Head of Performance Marketing is responsible for maintaining a strong partnership with the agency.


Market & Competitive Analysis
Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and external factors influencing performance. Use insights to pivot strategies, capitalise on emerging opportunities, and maintain a competitive edge in key markets.

Customer Engagement and Lifetime Value

Increasing customer lifetime value (LTV) by enhancing customer engagement strategies. By working with the CLM team and leveraging data insights, the Head of Performance Marketing ensures that both customer acquisition and retention efforts are maximised to drive long-term value.

 

Collaboration Across Teams

Close collaboration with the wider Marketing team, Consumer Insights, and Digital &Customer Lifecycle Team.

Your qualifications and key criteria

  • Degree or equivalent Digital Marketing or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years’ experience experience in digital performance marketing, with a focus on paid media channels, measurement, and data analytics
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale digital marketing campaigns and successfully measuring their performance to deliver measurable business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success in a fast-paced, growth-oriented, e-commerce industry
  • Strategic Thinker: Ability to develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies that align with broader business goals.
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making: Expertise in leveraging data and analytics to inform decisions, measure performance, and drive continuous improvement. Experience in integrating both internal and external data sources to assess and respond to competitive landscapes, consumer trends, and other external factors.
  • Performance Measurement: Expertise in setting up and analysing performance measurement frameworks, tracking KPIs, and ensuring marketing efforts align with business objectives.
  • Leadership and Team Collaboration: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, collaborate with internal stakeholders, and manage external agency relationships to achieve marketing objectives.
  • Paid Media Expertise: Strong understanding of digital advertising channels and set up with the ability to audit when required (search, display, video, social media, affiliates, metas) and best practices for maximising ROI across these platforms.
  • Adaptability: Ability to quickly pivot and adapt strategies in a fast-paced, competitive environment.
  • Customer-Centric Focus: Deep understanding of customer behaviours and experience in optimising campaigns to improve customer acquisition, engagement, and lifetime value (LTV).
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and resolve challenges effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
