Role title
Finance manager Continuous improvement and Control
Your role
Aer Lingus Finance has an exciting opportunity for a candidate to join the team as a Finance Control & CI Manager, reporting directly to the Director of Finance Transformation and Data. Please note that this role is a Fixed Term Position.
As part of Aer Lingus Finance’s “Get Fit for Growth” transformation initiative, this role will contribute to building a best-in-class Finance function by:
- Driving operational excellence through process optimisation, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strengthening and maintaining robust financial controls post-SAP implementation to safeguard the company's assets and mitigate financial risks.
- Supporting the Finance team in navigating transformation and delivering meaningful change across the function.
This is a key role with a candidate joining an inclusive team, working collaboratively across the finance function, in a hybrid working model.
Continuous improvement & operational excellence
- Drive the identification & implementation of improvements across Finance processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, & effectiveness.
- Leverage technology & automation tools to streamline workflows & eliminate manual processes.
- Develop & promote a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovation within the team.
Financial controls and risk management
- Oversee the operation of internal controls and ensure their effectiveness in preventing errors, fraud, & financial misstatements. Monitor& assess control activities to identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external policies. Keep abreast of changes in regulations and ensure that financial controls are updated accordingly.
- Conduct risk assessments (e.g. BCP) for Finance to identify financial risks and evaluate their potential impact on the company's financial position. Develop strategies to mitigate identified risks & provide recommendations. Provide a framework for risks assessment & mitigation in the finance team.
Team engagement and projects
- Collaborate with the Finance Transformation and Data team to deliver key transformation projects & initiatives.
- Champion the Finance transformation agenda by maintaining & updating the Finance Transformation SharePoint or equivalent, ensuring clear & transparent communication of priorities and progress.
- Support cross-functional collaboration by building relationships across the Finance team & key stakeholders.
- Support ad-hoc projects as required.

This role has two direct reports including a graduate.
Your qualifications and key criteria
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Creative problem-solving skills, coupled with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, with attention to both strategic goals and operational detail.
- Proactive, taking the initiative to explore issues and to generate new ideas and approaches.
- Able to build and maintain strong relationships.
- Resourceful team player with ability to promote good team working and cooperation.
- Excellent people management skills. Passionate about colleagues’ development and engagement.
- Committed to continuous improvement in areas of financial control, risk management and operational processes.
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/ACMA) or equivalent level of experience.
- Accounting background, including reporting and financial analysis.
- Good understanding of finance theory and good level of practical finance experience in technical group accounting.
- Experience and understanding of various finance functions (e.g. Financial Reporting, FP&A, Treasury) and how they interact with each other on a practical level.
- Experience of bringing a team on a transformation journey and putting the user at the heart of that journey.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Eligible to live and work in the EU.
- Hold a current unrestricted worldwide passport.
- Able to provide 2 verifiable references.
- Able to pass a strict airport security vetting procedure which includes a 5 year background check* (or be in possession of a current airside pass for the airport this position is based in i.e. Dublin).
