Role title

AOG Desk Lead

Your role

AOG Desk Lead will be responsible for coordinating a team of material coordinators, managing transformation initiatives and ensuring the efficient flow of materials and products from suppliers to the airline for AOG situations.

This role requires strong people management and organizational and analytical skills, the ability to handle multiple tasks, and a deep understanding of logistics and supply chain processes.

 

 

Your responsibilities as a AOG Desk Lead will include:

  • Manage a team of AOG coordinators and specialists.
  • Coordinate and manage the procurement and logistics of parts and materials for aircraft in AOG situations.
  • Work closely with the maintenance and engineering teams to understand material needs and priorities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors and other airlines where Aer Lingus have routes.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to ensure cost-effective and timely procurement.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address any issues related to quality, delivery, or service.
  • Oversee the logistics and transportation of materials, ensuring timely delivery to the required location.
  • Oversee any customs or regulatory requirements as needed.
  • Coordinate with Inventory & Supplier Management and Stores departments to implement procedures to maintain inventory control systems and optimize stock levels minimizing shortages.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the AOG operations.

Your qualifications and key criteria

We are looking for an individual with experience / qualifications in the following areas:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in aircraft maintenance, supply chain management, or a related field.

  • Strong knowledge of aircraft parts, maintenance procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Proven ability to lead a team, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and handle urgent, time-sensitive situations effectively.

  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to travel as needed to meet with suppliers and support AOG situations.

  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Eligible to live and work in the EU.
  • Holder of a current unrestricted worldwide passport.
  • Able to pass a strict airport security vetting procedure which includes a 5-year background check* or be in possession of a current airside pass for the airport this position is based in Dublin.

Desirable criteria

Experience working in an airline or MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) environment.
Certification in supply chain management or logistics.
Familiarity with ERP systems used in aviation maintenance (e.g., AMOS, RAMCO).
